One recurring frustration we had while trip planning with others was that no one would be able to decide on anything, making it difficult to get everyone’s input and come to a group decision.
To eliminate this problem, we at MiTravel designed the Polls feature for our collaborative travel planning board!
What is the Polls Feature
Polls are a great way to gauge group interest and make group decisions. As the name suggests, this feature lets you set up polls to gather your fellow travel mates' opinions, making the planning process more inclusive and representative.
Polls are perfect for:
- Gathering and brainstorming ideas together
- Gauging everyone’s interest on activities and destinations
- Making group decisions so everyone’s included and on-board
How to Use Polls
To create a poll, simply type in your question and answers in the “Create a poll” tab.
This should be visible on your default starting menu. In case you want to add more possible answers, click on “add more options”. Once you’re done, click post to add it to your Planning Board where all your fellow planners can vote.
Polls are treated the same on the Planning Board as Location Cards and Note Cards. This means you can drag and drop them to organize your board. You can also add colours and tags to categorize your polls however you wish, such as polls related to budget, attractions, or restaurants, as well as filter through them.
To delete a poll, hover your mouse over the Poll Card on the Planning Board and click on the garbage icon at the bottom right.
You can use polls however you wish, this feature is intended to customize your planning experience so you can plan your best and most memorable trips going forward.
To get started, we have listed out some common uses for Polls!
Idea 1: Gather Ideas
One way to use polls is to brainstorm ideas with your group.
Let’s say you haven’t fully decided what type of locations to visit. No worries, all you have to do is set up a poll similar to the one below to gather ideas from your travel companions!
The best trips are usually the ones that take an unexpected turn, so get the most out of your peers to collaborate and create the perfect trip together!

Idea 2: Gauge Everyone’s Interest
Another use of Polls is to gauge group interest.
Suppose you’re travelling with your friends and want to visit locations that everyone is interested in. You can create a poll to gauge your group’s interest.
This can be for activities, destinations, restaurants, anything! The options are endless.
Idea 3: Make Group Decisions
You can also use polls to make group decisions, such as deciding on a budget, a restaurant to eat at, or where to visit.
